How to Get the Most Out of Your Avery Power Hunter Layout Blind.
Your Avery Power Hunter Layout Blind can be your greatest ally when it comes to keeping yourself concealed in the field. If you are new to waterfowl hunting it’s necessary to know how to properly prepare your blind to gain the most success. Having a blind set up properly can make a huge difference on whether you go home with birds or not.
Mud Your Blind Before Your Hunt
The most important tip I can give when it comes to layout blinds, like the Power Hunter Layout Blind by Avery, is to make sure you brush it in first simply by adding corn stubble, wheat stubble, or even plain old grass. Anything from the terrain you are hunting in will work. Many times we will throw mud onto the blind and smear it in all over the blind. This is called mudding the blind. Believe it or not, mud and natural vegetation alone will go a long way to camouflage your layout blind during the hunt. One of the most common questions I get from the people I take hunting has to be, ”Do we really need to do this much, they are just geese!” Every time I reply with a a simple, “yes.” My thought on mudding a blind is, “when you think your blind is covered enough, add more!” You can never have too much natural vegetation on the blind. I tell people if you spend an hour putting decoys out, spend the rest of the time till the geese come camouflaging the blind! Trust me, it will pay off in the end.
I used Avery’s Power Hunter as an example because it is my absolute favorite! It’s light and extremely easy to set up. The best part about it is that it’s easily concealed because of it’s low-profile. Another great feature of this particular blind is that you can see straight through the entire lid, making it a callers dream. It let’s you call and see how the birds are reacting, making it easy to switch it up if need be.
