“How To Bowfish”
Hey everyone, this is Chaz Terrebonne from south Louisiana, and just wanted to drop in and do a little talking about “How To Bowfish.” Bow fishing is a big sport in a lot of areas these days and seems to only be growing.
Learning how to bow fish isn’t that hard if you put your mind to it. I started out by taking an older bow I had in closet. I bought some arrows and a reel for it one day. After setting it up, I decided it was time to go out and learn.
I headed to a local boat launch when the sun went down. After putting the boat in water and heading out to a small salty marsh area, I didn’t have a high dollar light set up, just some halo lights from local hardware store. Once the lights were on I turned the trolling motor on, and off I went to try this new sport out.
I was surprised at how good I could see the fish under me. I knew this was going to be a blast trying to learn how to bowfish. I must say I missed a lot that night, but I did get a few. I was hooked quick and couldn’t stop talking about it.
Over time I learned that aiming was a big part to knowing how to bowfish. As time went on I learned to aim lower as the water depth got deeper. After many trips of going out and learning, I also started doing some research on different light combos, bows, tips, lines, reels, and even arrow rest. I just knew I wasn’t going to stop going and now had another addicting outdoor sport. I got so hooked I would go home and watch the tourneys on tv when they would play. I think we can only learn more about bowfishing as time goes. Also I know every state has rules so it’s important to read up on them for the area you go. Good luck everyone when out on the water sticking fish.
