A New Favorite from Patternmaster

Howdy folks,

WestonBrownWelcome to Marsh Mutt! We’re glad you have found your way to our new site and hope you’ll enjoy many more visits. As a young, growing company, we are adding new products everyday to better serve you.

Today, I’d like to tell you all about one of my favorite products in the Marsh Mutt store, the Patternmaster Benelli Crio/Beretta Optima Plus Extended Range Ported Choke. I know what you are thinking, and yes, it’s quite a mouthful to say, but it is amazing! Patternmaster has spent years perfecting this choke and, in my opinion, has gotten it just right. This particular choke has numerous options including black and silver color options, ported or not, and extended or long range. If you’re like me, you probably assume that extended range is for longer shots, however, that is not the case. The difference in the extended and long range is the length of shell they were created to pattern best. The long range is designed for 3-inch shells. It screws into the end of the barrel and sticks out 1-inch. The extended range was designed to accommodate 3½-inch shells and still accomplish the main purpose of the choke. It extends 1½-inches out of the end of the barrel and allows the 3½ shells to achieve a full pattern. However, the best thing about these chokes, and what makes them so special, is the patented “stud ring”.  This design creates a shorter shot string so that more of your shot connects with your target at the same time. By doing this, you end up with fewer cripples.

Patternmaster claims both the long range and extended range are effective out to 70 yards. In my waterfowl experience, they are MOST effective around 50-60 yards. I shoot a Benelli Super Black Eagle II and have seen the best patterns at this yard range, as well.

One of my favorite things about these chokes is their versatility. I mentioned my experience using this choke for waterfowl, but I also enjoy dove hunting. The Benelli Crio/Beretta Optima Plus is compatible with either steel or lead shot, allowing the user a variety of game to hunt. I love this choke for those highflying dove.

Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this choke. You really have to experience it yourself to see just how good it really is. If you’re looking for a new choke, look no further than Patternmaster. You won’t be disappointed.

Looking forward to seeing you in the field!
